The number of homeless families living in campgrounds in Suffolk County varies depending on the time of year. In the summer, when the weather is warmer, more families choose to live in campgrounds. In the fall  when the weather is colder, fewer families may choose to live in campgrounds. There are a couple of problems with living on camp grounds. In the winter, the sites in Suffolk County shut down. The other issue is that you have to change your sites every one to two weeks.

There are a number of reasons why homeless families may choose to live in campgrounds. Some families may not be able to afford to rent an apartment or house. Other families may not have a place to go because they have been evicted from their homes. Still, other families may choose to live in campgrounds because they prefer the outdoors or because they feel safer in a campground than in a homeless shelter.

Living in a campground can be challenging for homeless families. One of the biggest challenges is staying warm as the weather cools down in the late fall and early spring.

Another challenge is dealing with pests, such as mosquitoes and ticks. Additionally, homeless families living in campgrounds may have difficulty accessing healthcare, education, and other essential services.

There are a number of organizations that are working to help homeless families living in campgrounds in Suffolk County. These organizations provide a variety of services, such as food, clothing, shelter, and job training. They also work to advocate for the rights of homeless families and to help them find permanent housing.
