带着宠物无家可归吗?
As more and more people become homeless with their loving pet, we at Homeless long Island are trying to solve the problem of shelters with pets. Are you homeless with your pet? Or are you about to be homeless. We understand your pet is your life companion. We will try and help you and your pet through this crisis. Unfortunately there are no shelters in Nassau or Suffolk counties that take pets, unless your pet is a Service Animal. That does not mean we do not have any solutions, even though the solutions are limited, we are happy to help you through this situation. This page will be updating often as we constantly try and resolve this on going problem. Help us help others—we need more resources. If you know of any hotels that accept pets, have stayed in a DSS-referred shelter or house that allows pets, or can provide foster care for a cat or dog, please email us at: Homelesslongisland@gmail.com."
寄养选择
If you consider this an option, your local town animal shelter may be able to foster care for your dog for one or two weeks if you are homeless or in crisis. We will help you find a temporary shelter for your pet. We are here to help you and will support any decision you make. Below is a list of Nassau and Suffolk County animal shelters that have been known to foster dogs for one to two weeks. We have foster care options available in Suffolk County for your cat as well. If you will be willing to separate for a short period of time.

Fair Housing Article § 3604(3)(B)
Under the Fair Housing Act, a housing provider must allow a person with a disability to have a service animal as a "reasonable accommodation," meaning they cannot deny housing to someone solely because they need a service animal, and cannot charge extra fees for the animal, as long as the animal is necessary to alleviate the symptoms of their disability; this applies to shelters as well.
